Paper Cranes

A folk duo from the South of the Lake District; Paper Cranes capture the intimacy of a campfire jam with the energy to fill a venue, like a baked potato with melted cheese and tuna. They’re wholesome and leave you with a warm feeling in your belly!

Early in the Paper Cranes history, Jon (the twitchy footed strummer), singer, song writer, guitarist, drummer, “gentleman”, and general all round morning beer drinker, spanked the skins for another local band.

In a momentous event fit to put in your calendars in BIRO and celebrate every year from now on… Jon picked up a guitar and started to write songs.

Fate intervened and…

Beckah (the hair), singer, bassist, chief smiler, lady, rainy day artist, and Melodica wrangler entered the mix.

The pair grew up in the ship building town of Barrow-in-Furness finding inspiration in the work of Ben Howard and others alike.

Paper Cranes were born, in a ring of blazing flames and awesomeness, with thumping folk tunes pierced by a lightness of voice like a warm breeze.

The pair played in every pub in the land, with open mics and shows that were left greedy for more.

Growing popularity and a unique blend of two vocals made the rootsy duo stand out. Supporting Ocean Colour Scene’s acoustic set and performing at Kendal Calling in their first year set them on a road to shining musical victory and a place in the history books of folk.

The path has been hard fought, with many a slowly drooping mic stand and yards of gaffa tape in their wake, but now!… The Black Mist E.P’s ready and waiting. Get it from iTunes before they sell out!

There’s a nice video that goes along with the title song of the E.P. too! Have a look see!
